Planning a Team Offsite? Here’s What to Do Differently
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Planning a team offsite after summer comes to an end?

Team offsites are the perfect time to rethink how you use your in-person moments, and make them count.

With so many teams working virtually, gathering face-to-face offers opportunities you simply can’t recreate on Zoom. That’s why team offsite ideas need to go beyond conference rooms and slide decks.

A couple of months ago, I attended a gathering of coaches where the convener challenged us to do things that can only happen in person. In this case, we sang together, something that is nigh on impossible online due to sound delays. We also spent time in a museum using art to spark creativity about the year ahead. These activities shifted our energy, opened new conversations, and reminded us why being physically together can be so powerful.

Your team doesn’t need to sing or stage a flash mob. But you can mix people into new combinations, change the room setup, incorporate movement, or use hands-on inspiration to spark fresh thinking. The real opportunity is designing moments that deepen connection and help people step out of their usual habits.

If you’re investing the time to gather your team, make it engaging and memorable. And if you want help designing a meaningful offsite, I’d be happy to support you.
