ALPLA Opens First Philippine Base Plant in Ciudad de Calamba

Calamba City, Laguna — Austrian packaging and recycling company ALPLA Group has officially opened its first standalone production facility in the Philippines, marking a key step in its long‑term expansion in Southeast Asia and a vote of confidence in the country’s manufacturing sector.

The new facility is located at Filinvest Innovation Park – Ciudad de Calamba and serves as ALPLA’s 200th production plant worldwide. Designed as a fully integrated base plant, the site brings together manufacturing, administration, and logistics operations within a single complex covering roughly 4,800 square meters. While the plant has been producing plastic bottles and closures since mid‑2025, its formal inauguration on March 19 signaled ALPLA’s full transition to a broader, locally anchored operation in the Philippines.

ALPLA first entered the Philippine market in 2014 as an in‑house packaging partner to a global customer. The Calamba facility represents a shift from that model, allowing the company to serve a wider range of clients across the beverage, fast‑moving consumer goods, and other industrial sectors from a centralized location.

The plant currently operates four production lines and uses a combination of Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM), Extrusion Blow Moulding (EBM), and Compression Moulding (CM) technologies. It has been designed with future growth in mind, with space reserved for up to five additional lines should market demand continue to rise.

Beyond its technical capabilities, the facility contributes directly to local employment. Around 40 workers are currently employed at the site, with the workforce expected to grow alongside production expansion. Company officials said the move strengthens local supply chains and improves responsiveness to customers operating in and around the Philippine market.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior ALPLA executives, representatives of Filinvest Land, Inc., and members of the diplomatic community, including H.E. Johann Brieger, Ambassador of Austria to the Philippines. Their presence highlighted the role of collaboration between foreign investors, local developers, and public‑sector partners in supporting industrial development.

For ALPLA, the Calamba plant is both a regional hub and a long‑term commitment. By consolidating operations and investing in scalable infrastructure, the company aims to balance efficiency, quality, and reliability while supporting the continued growth of its Asia‑Pacific business.

With the launch of its first base plant in the Philippines, ALPLA positions itself not only as a supplier of packaging solutions but as a long‑term manufacturing partner contributing to industrial growth, skilled employment, and locally integrated production in the region.
