Adding drawer dividers and drawer organizers is the easiest way to maximize space in your bathroom, kitchen and even nightstand! It keeps everything in it’s place, easy to find and within reach. It eliminates shifting when you open and close the drawers.

One of the easiest organization projects is tackling a space, one drawer at a time! It requires minimal time and effort, but yields maximum impact in the space and your daily tasks and routine.

Integrating drawer organizers has been essential for bathroom organization – especially in our daughters’ shared bath (3 teenage girls in a single bathroom requires a lot of creativity and patience!)

I use drawer dividers in our nightstand organization, too! It puts the remote control, my readers and more within reach and makes necessities easy to find, even in the dark.

Drawer organizers are essential in the kitchen with frequent use to make kitchen tools accessible and deter clutter in the junk drawer! The options are endless. Desks, vanities, closets and entry tables can all benefit from the use of dividers and organizers.

How to Choose Drawer Organizers

To choose the drawer organization solution that is right for you, I recommend eliminating clutter and assessing your needs. This is the tried and true process I use:

Remove Everything from Drawer – Remove everything from each drawer and lay items on a counter or floor. Separate like items into groups based on what they are used for. For example, in the bathroom, I created groups for skincare, makeup, hair products and styling tools, personal hygiene, excess/extras and my personal favorite, items to binge. This makes drawers visually pleasing and enhances efficiency to quickly locate an item.

Map Space – Once you assess your drawer and needs, determine which items need to be store in each drawer based on frequency of use and size. Store items that are used more frequently in the top drawer, if possible. Lay items out in each drawer to ensure they fit and how you would like them to be arranged.

Measure – People tend to purchase organizers and then clean and organize drawers, but that often results in storage solutions that don’t fit. Measure the length, width and height of each drawer. Take measurements of large items and the space that each group of items within that drawer will require to find the best organizers for drawers to maximize the space and minimize shifting.

Order – I have learned a lot through the years and have found it’s tricky finding drawer organizers that fit a drawer seamlessly, however, using measurements as your guide, you can find solutions to get close (and I have a tip to keep them from shifting). Most organizers come in sets, often 2″ or 3″ increments by 8″ or 12″ in length. Having I use a mix of both in a lot of drawers to get the most “coverage” possible. More below…

Drawer Dividers versus Drawer Organizers

Drawer Dividers are versatile and offer flexible storage. They expand and contract to achieve a tight fit in drawers of all sizes. Dividers are easily spaced at any width.

While they require less thought and planning, they are not as aesthetically pleasing or seamless. Drawer dividers are ideal for items the require the full length of the drawer. They limit the ability to store in smaller square and rectangular compartments.

Drawer organizers are suitable for larger or deeper drawers and smaller items. I prefer organizers for most drawers, aside from full length kitchen tools. The custom fit allows me to maximize each drawer and my needs.

Tip
